The first MAHLE engine—an investment in the future

3 cylinder engine

Three cylinders, 609 ccm, with a power output of 60 kW at 9,500 rpm. We have developed and built a high speed 4-stroke inline engine with an aluminum structure for the Formula SAE—th first complete MAHLE engine which is completely new in its overall architecture.

The Formula SAE is an international competition for students organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Up to 140 teams come together three times a year in England, the USA and Australia to face the decision of the panel.

MAHLE has supported the team of RWTH Aachen University with the development of the engine for its vehicle. The aim is to demonstrate our complete engine know-how.
